Privacy Policy

GameBubbles shows live Steam player counts as interactive bubbles. There are no accounts, and we don't ask you for personal information. This page explains, in plain terms, what the site does with data.
The short version
- No accounts, sign-in, ads or advertising trackers.
- GameBubbles itself does not set cookies of its own. Your Favorites, preferences and recent games are kept in your browser's local storage and are not stored in our database.
- We use privacy-oriented usage analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) and error monitoring (Sentry), described below.
- The game and player-count data we store is public Steam market data, not data about visitors.
Information GameBubbles processes
Information you give us. None. There is nothing to sign up for and no forms that collect personal details.
Information your browser sends. Like any website, when you load a page our hosting provider receives standard request information such as your IP address, browser type and the URL requested. This is handled by the infrastructure described under “Server logs and hosting”.
Search. Text you type in the search box is processed in your browser to filter the bubbles. It is not stored and is not sent to analytics. If you use Share and the link includes your search (as ?q=), that text becomes part of the web address you copy or send; anyone who opens such a link, and the servers and services that handle that request, can see the address.
Browser storage and cookies
GameBubbles does not currently set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not set cookies of its own. To remember your choices it uses your browser's local storage on this site. These values stay on your device; we do not read them from our servers.
gamebubbles:favorites:v1— the Steam app IDs of games you marked as Favorites.gamebubbles:settings:v1— your time range, bubble size mode, color palette and animation setting.gamebubbles:filters:v1— your advanced filter choices (minimum players, change direction and size, rank band, favorites only).gamebubbles:recent-games:v1— up to 12 recently viewed games, stored only as a Steam app ID and the time you viewed it. Entries older than 30 days are ignored and dropped.gamebubbles:last-view:v1— the last public tab you chose (for example Most Played), so the home page can reopen on it.
This storage exists to provide features you use, is not sent to advertisers by GameBubbles, and is not used to track you across sites. GameBubbles does not use session storage, IndexedDB or the Cache Storage API for your data. The services described below may behave differently; see their sections.
Saved games and the lookup request
The home page shows games from the current Top 100. For Favorites or recently viewed games that are not in the Top 100, your browser asks our server for their names by sending those Steam app IDs (/api/games/lookup?appIds=…, up to 24 IDs). The request carries no account or identity. Our application uses the IDs only to answer the request: it does not store the list, and the list is not sent to analytics or included in error reports. As with any request, our hosting infrastructure may see the web address that was requested.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall usage. According to Vercel's documentation, it does not use cookies to identify visitors; visitors are distinguished by a hash created from the incoming request, and that session information is discarded after 24 hours. Vercel documents the data it may store with each page view as including the page, referrer, approximate location (country/region/city), device type, operating system and browser.
We also send a small number of interaction events (for example opening a game, toggling a favorite, changing a range or filter, sharing a view, or clicking “View on Steam”). These carry simple values such as a Steam app ID, a tab name, a time range or a count. They do not include search text, your Favorites or Recently viewed lists, URLs, or any user identifier. Page-view addresses are sent without query strings.
Analytics only runs on the live site, and browsers or extensions that block analytics scripts will prevent it.
Error monitoring
When something unexpectedly breaks, we use Sentry to receive an error report so we can fix it. The monitoring code is loaded in your browser only after an error happens. We have configured it to send errors only: no session replay, no performance tracing or profiling, no breadcrumb trail, no request bodies, cookies or headers, no user identity, and addresses with query strings and fragments removed. Reports include technical details such as the error, the page path and the release version. We do not attach your Favorites, Recently viewed or other local data.
Sentry's own platform behavior is separate from our configuration. Sentry's documentation states that its SDK may by default collect the connecting IP address and derives browser and device information from the User-Agent. Because of this, an error report may include information of that kind.
Game data and Steam
Player counts, game names and artwork come from Valve's Steam. Our servers request this data from Steam. Game images are loaded directly by your browser from Steam's content delivery networks, so Steam's infrastructure can see your IP address and browser details when those images load. Links to the Steam store open Steam's own site, which has its own privacy practices.
GameBubbles is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation or Steam.
What we store on our servers
Our database holds game and market data only. For each game: its Steam app ID, name, a URL-friendly slug and an artwork reference. For player history: the game, a concurrent player count and a timestamp, recorded periodically by an automated job. This is public game history, not information about visitors. Favorites, Recently viewed, Settings and Filters are not stored in our database.
Server logs and hosting
GameBubbles is hosted on Vercel, and game data is kept in a Supabase database that only our server accesses. Your browser does not talk to Supabase. Our hosting provider processes requests and may keep operational and security logs (such as IP address, requested address and time) under its own policies and settings. Our application code does not write visitor IP addresses or your saved-game lists to its own logs.
Third-party services
- Valve / Steam — source of game data and artwork; receives requests from our servers and from your browser when images load.
- Vercel — hosting and Web Analytics.
- Supabase — database for game and player-count history (server-side only).
- Sentry — error monitoring.
How long data is kept
- Recently viewed games in your browser: entries expire after 30 days. Other local data stays until you remove it.
- Player-count history: kept as operational game history.
- Analytics, hosting logs and error reports: retention is controlled by the provider and by our project settings at that provider, and we do not state a fixed period here.
Your choices
- Remove a Favorite by toggling it off, or use the Clear button on Recently viewed.
- Reset your settings and filters from their panels in the app.
- Clear this site's stored data from your browser's settings at any time.
- Use a browser or extension that blocks analytics, monitoring or ad scripts; the site works without them.
Clear local GameBubbles data
Removes your Favorites, Settings, Filters, Recently viewed games and last-used tab from this browser. Nothing else on this site's storage is touched. It cannot be undone.
Children
GameBubbles is not directed at children, has no accounts and does not knowingly ask anyone for personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will look into it.
